Abstract: Orange
I did it for our living room. If I lie to my friend that we bought it for a few thousands dollars from a famous modern painter, I wonder how many of them will actually believe me.

Camille and Marcus
When we took our family trip to the SF bay area in the past summer, we stayed near Pixar where I used to work. After visiting my old friends at the studio, we drove around the area and found this tiny little beach next to Chevys Fresh Mex in the late afternoon right before the sunset. There was a pier with airplane models which my kids loved. When I asked my kids what was most fun about visiting San Francisco, they said drawing on the sand at the beach.

Arboretum with the waterfall sound
I went to Arboretum once again with two of my fellow artist friends. We thought the waterfall there would be a good subject to paint so we went there but turned out the opposite field view on the other side was far more interesting. So we painted this view with the waterfall facing our back. It was nice to paint while hearing the waterfall sound which made a perfect serene background music to us.

View from the Boddy House, reworked
I wasn't happy with the foreground tree and ground bushes. I went back and worked on it a little bit and made some adjustments. I think it improved a little.

Hill behind the Brand Library
My fellow artist friend showed me a quiet little park area with benches tucked away behind the Brand Library in Glendale. This is a view of a little distant hill from the park in the morning.

Fletcher Drive, reworked
I kept thinking about and I was bothered by how badly the painting turned out and almost gave up on it. But I had to go back and give it one last try to save it. I think I am much more happy with the new version although I will never be completely happy with it. I think I can leave this one as it is now and rest at least.

Fletcher Drive
When I was young, going to college at Art Center, everyday I would take this road to get on hwy 2 to Pasadena. Those four years were the saddest, poorest and darkest of my life. I still take this road to get to midtown often and each time I drive on this road I remember how miserable I was then and reminded how blessed I am now.

The Trails Cafe 2
It started out cloudy and foggy in the morning but later after the sun came out and the lighting changed completely, I couldn't finish it on site anymore. I finished it at home with some of the pictures I took.
More I paint more I feel like I am in a race with the Sun.

The Trails Cafe
Happiness is breakfast, coffee and painting in the park.
Early in the morning still cloudy/foggy, it was chilly until noon. Nice hot coffee and breakfast just hit the spot.

Watercolor from the past
I did this one actually a few years ago and lately I feel I forgot how to paint in watercolor. Some says painting is like riding a bicycle and you don't forget. I sure hope so.

More tiny Plein Air
I didn't have to time to do another painting of the lake at the Arboretum on site yesterday so I did this in the studio from the photo I took there and memory.

Plein Air
After years of not painting, I am starting again and I have a lot of rehabilitation to do.
5"x7" Oil on Panel. Arboretem
5"x8" Water color on Paper. Glendale mountains
I did this one a while back maybe last year. This one was really quick 30mins water color sketch. Simple composition and lots of sky to make it easy.
